Thanks for offering your help with my washer problem.

The washer does everything fine until the spin cycle. Starts out fine, but at the end when the tub is drained a squeel begins and builds up ending with an ear piercing squeel and a rubber burning smell.

Upon inspection there is a glazed drive belt and tiny bits of rubber under the machine. Pump belt appears ok. Pump hoses clear. Pump works ok. Big drive pulley turns around freely witha bit ofeffort.

Belts might be worn?

Ran and watched belts during squeel. Looks like drive belt is slipping?? Motor pulley ends up very hot, very fast.

Replaced both belts thinking that was the problem since the sliding motor mount springs had the belts pulled back almost to the limit. Motor mount slides ok to me.

Ran to test.

Again late in spin the extreme squeel returns and rubber burning smell and a very hot motor pulley.

Any suggestions ??

Thank you very much!

Double check that model number.I could not get anything to come up for it.

I'll assume that you have the MTG washer that uses the 211124 and 211125 belts.

Your washer *could* have:

1)A piece of laundry caught between the spin basket and water tank.

2) Brake problem.

3) Binding transmission.

It's also important to make sure that the pump belt is not too tight.

The new belt usually comes in a bag which has a description on it showing how to check the pump belt tension and make any needed adjustment.

Hello. Yes, it is a Maytag Commercialwith model tag showing MAT25CSAAW and I'm up in Canada.

The belt bag included 211124 and 211125 belts with adjustment description on it.

The 1/4" spacing between inside of belts when squeezing pump belt that they talk of.... that's what I have set up.

Thanks!

Update.

Following the advice of John, I started from the top again to make sure I didn't miss anything stuck between the basket and bucket. Sure enough, a nice black sock had made its way tightly in between the two. Should have looked more carefully!!

Sock removed. Left new belts in and tried it out. Back in business.

Thanks!!
