Default Magic Chef CTB1502ARW - any info on it?

Hello,

The management company that manages my apartment building just brought me today a Magic Chef CTB1502ARW which replaced an 18 year old Hotpoint 18 cf refrigerator that went to freezer heaven.

The refrigerator is brand new (although I cannot find the manufacture date on the manufacturer's plate) and I have had it since 11am -- it's now almost 8pm.

The refrigerator just went through a defrost cycle where the freezer temp went up to 60 degrees and everthing started to melt. I don't know if this is normal for new refrigerators. It made ice just fine but the apparent defrost started to reverse it.

I wanted to ask if anyone knows about this model. I believe there was an identical Maytag refrigerator, which is what I found after doing research (model MTB1502arw).

I found a total of one review of this refrigerator, and it was not very positive. So now I'm a bit worried I got a bad model. Perhaps I should have just bought my own, which the management somewhat discouraged.

Thanks for any information.

Jeff

Your Magic Chef Refrigerator is a very good brand, I own an Admiral(also made by Maytag) and I love mine, I bought it new in 1999.

With any new refrigerator, you always have to give it 24 hours for the temperatures to stabilize and such. Give it some more time, and if its still not doing good, you can contact Magic Chef, since you do have a full 1 yr. warranty on it.
