Maytag model WU702 Dishwasher - NOISY
I have an older model Maytag Dishwasher, Model # WU702
First Question: The dishwasher in the last 6 months has been operating very noisily, gets worse longer it's on , an almost grinding type noises and recently the motor belt came off.. I reinstalled it and it operated fine for several weeks and again came off. adn I've out it back on an were back in busneess, thouigh it still makes lots of noise getting louder during ther cycle. The noise seems to be coming from the moror pulley area or the motor and wondering if a worn stretched belt will cause the noise similar to that of a worn car fan belt. it''s a pretty chuncky sounding sound after it's run for a while. It seems to go away if you stop the DW and let it cool down and then operates quitely and then nosie gets worse after a little time running. It seems to make th noise more as it run than it does when it's first powered on. Second question: The detergent door no longer opens by itself and we've simpy been pouring detergent int the washer at beingining cycle. IS there a comomn fix as taking off the door I dont see any physcial defect though wondering if you've foind the fix for this to be a solenoid, magent or sensor that I can repalce on the deishwasher. I'm faily mechanically inclined so if theres a part you beleive responsible I can install it myself. Thanks, Mark mt part number: 902115

Hi,
The belt can/will make a screech noise when worn or not lubricated....but a bad pump module is more common for a grinding noise and the module can start to tighten up and throw off the belt.  Belt length 25 3/8”, width 1/4”, characteristics, clear, round
