Default Maytag pdbtt49aww making noise

We have had this machine only 1 year. In december, we had to have a service call because it suddenly started to make a terrible racket while going through the cycle. Turns out a glass had broken and a piece had fallen into the food disposal filter. Now I seem to be having the same problem-terrible noise while going through the cycle, but otherwise working fine. I would like to avoid a service call since we are now out of our warrenty for labor especially if this is something simple that myself or my husband could fix. Can you give us some help? thanks, Katie

Hi,

Getting the official repair manual is the best way to fix it yourself, as there are many steps to take to get to that pump impeller:

Angry Now what

Okay, I ordered the manual and it doesn't help any more than the book from the library. In fact, the pump assembly doesn't look like mine. Regardless, I took it apart and cleared out a few little pieces of plastic that were in it and then reassembled. I did a test run and it's still making the same noise. Is this where I have to go ahead and call the repairman anyway?

If you found a few pieces of plastic and its still making that sound, then its likely to have more lodged in there.

That should be the official repair manual for your model, if it looks different, thats very odd.

Yes, contact Maytag and let them know that you need assistance.
