Question MayTag LA9700 -- blows 1A fuse when lid closes

Hi All.

This is my first post here.

I have an older Maytag LA9700 unit that recently stopped working.

I narrowed it down to the closing of the lid -- if I leave the lid open, it will begin filling, etc. But as soon as I close the lid it blows the fuse that is mounted next to the two switches (lid switch and another switch) inside the control panel area.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

--Andrew

Thanks, I'll check it.

I forgot to mention that unit will neither spin nor pump out water at any time ... it will only fill. At any time, if I close the lid, the fuse blows.

So, because of this and after looking at the schematics, I figured it might be a fault in the motor, etc.

Thanks to all!

Replaced the switch panel with a new one (4A fuse, indeed) and it's working fine now. Great!
