My Jenn-Air JTB2488AE ice maker has a solid block of ice near the ice tray section. The ice isnext tothe divided sections where the cubes are presumably normally frozen, in what seems like a trough about 1" wide that runs the length of the ice maker.

After talking with a Jenn-Air troubleshooter I shut off the freezer and put a hot, damp paper towel around the water inlet inside the freezer to try to defrost any blockage.

I am afraid to try to defrost the block of ice because I am not sure if this would harm the ice maker and/or any timing mechanism. Also, I have not tested whether the water line into the freezer is clogged (a line runs from the water filter to the freezer).

Would very much appreciate any advice.

=========================

Turns out that defrosting the water inlet line inside the freezer solved the problem. The ice maker now works; it seems that I didn't give it enough time.

Thanks.
