    Default Maytag Neptune (sorry!) leaks

I've had this washer a few years now; bought it when they first came out. I guess I'm luckier than most since until now I've never had a problem. I didn't even know about the class action suit until today!

The problem: the washer leaks. All the hoses are fine. The washer fills and washes with not a drop of water spilled. It is only during the drain / spin cycle that water leaks from underneath the machine. Yesterday while trying to figure out what was going on I noticed that water was also leaking from the bottom of the door itself. Strange. Is this one of those seal issues? I can't see how since the leaking only occurs when the water is leaving the machine. I called the store where I bought the machine (local store, not a chain), and the immediate reaction was "replace it". I don't want to bring in someone to tell me the same thing and pay for that advice, yet it seems there must be a way to fix/diagnose this problem that even I can handle? Not a klutz, just need a starting point...

    Thanks in advance!!!!

    Hi,

Whats the model# of your Maytag?

It sounds like you may have a leak in your door boot assembly.

Hi! The model number is: MAH5500BWW

I'm still thinking that this has something to do with the draining process, since the washer can wash an entire load without a single leak; it's only during the spin cycles or draining after a cycle that it leaks. However, I'm no expert on washing machines - so I could be 100% wrong! Any and all help is appreciated; I cannot see spending $1000 to replace the machine when it might be something simple. And before I take it apart I'd like to know what I'm looking for!

    Ok, thanks.

I would open up the front panel of your washer and look at where the leak is coming from.
Here is a help link to open up that front panel:
