Default Jenn-Air Fridge Freezer Fan Constantly On

Just a quick question...is the freezer fan supposed to run constantly? Never noticed it before, but we had water leaking from under the fridge today. Any suggestions short of calling repair? Thank you.

Yes, your freezer fan should run non-stop while your compressor is running.

Its possible your defrost drain line is clogged up, causing water on the floor. Whats the model# of your refrigerator?

Thanks for the quick reply Jake. The drain line could be clogged but I'll wait for the husband to get home to check it out. It's a Jenn-Air side by side model # JCB2389DRS. A few months ago we had service done on it because the fridge part wasn't cooling at all. The repair person put in a new chip (board?) and it seemed to work fine until now. The fridge part is staying cool but again...it's the freezer fan that's running constantly. The condenser is loaded with frost....thanks again.

You mean your evaporator is frosty, your condenser is in the back near your compressor and that always gives off warm heat.

Just make sure your evaporator is not clogged with a frost build up, it should have just a thin layer of frost on the coils.
