Post Maytag quiet series 200 won't drain

Hello,
I installed this Maytag dishwasher myself. The drain hose goes over the top of the machine and has a clamp holding it, then I ran it to the floor and to the garbage disposal. The water doesn't all drain out, should the hose be clamped up higher than the garbage disposal on this model. The hose is too short for me to do that because it comes mounted over the top and is clamped there. The Model number is MDB-5. I did take the drain hose all the way off and looked through it and it is clear. Any advice?
Thanks, Buddy

Get a bucket and run the drain hose in the bucket and then test to see if it drains in the bucket.

Is your garbage disposal new? or has a dishwasher drain hose ever been connected to it before?

Jake,
Thanks for the reply. The diswasher is in a brand new home that my son bought,so the garbage disposal is new. He didn't like the cheap one that they installed so I gave him my new one that I used two times. That's the Maytag quiet series 200. The dishes cleans fine and the garbage disposal works but there is some water left in the bottom of the dishwasher. I didn't take the drain hose of yet and put it in a bucket since it does clean the dishes and drains the water. There's just enough water left to smell and make a stain on the bottom.
Thanks, Buddy

It just seems to me that you shouldn't have to route the dishwasher drain hose over the dishwasher tub, Is this the way the installation instructions said to do it?

Never seen that before.

Jake,
I installed this Quiet series 200 in my house first and only used it about two times. I live alone and just wash my dishes by hand. I can't find the installation instructions. The hose that goes up the side of the dishwasher is a straight hard section with a clamp a the top to hold it in place. About a month ago I took the hose off and ran it under the machine like most installations and up high in the cabinet and it still had some water in the bottom of the dishwasher. It's very hard to run the hose that way since it has a hard straight section. This just didn't look right so I put it back like it was from the factory, up the side. Is some water left in the bottom of the machine exceptable. My son is thinking about buying a new dishwasher if I can't fix this one, it's only been used about ten times.
Thanks for the advice, Buddy

Jake,
Thanks for the instructions, I'm sure that I ran the drain hose the way it shows in the instructions. I'm going to check it out tonight and also check to see if the knock out in the garbage disposal is ok. Thanks for all your help. Buddy
