Default Maytag MZD2766GE Not Cooling Fridge

Appreciate the excellent advice that is already provided on this forum.
I need some advice specific to my problem: I have the above Maytag unit, last week it stopped cooling completely and since I had no time to look into it, I had the Sears guy come and look at it (out of warranty 5.5 years old) he said the evap coils were iced up and it needed a new defrost board, he installed it, defrosted the coils and left after charging $250.
Now the freezer works fine, but I still feel that the fridge is too warm, reaches 40 deg with a thermometer on middle shelf (freezer control at mid way and fridge at 7).
At the weekend I checked evap coils for ice behind them - none, checked that the fridge duct was not obstructed (dropped light assy from top of fridge slightly and checked between inlet and diffusser), checked that the return duct is free to move - ok, now I am at a loss - should I check the damper door ??
How do I do that ??, any advice on next steps would be very much appreciated.

Hi,

When Sears comes to do the repair, they always give a 90 parts and labor warranty, if its not performing still like it should, call them back to come, they won't charge you again, unless it needs another part.

Jake,
Thanks for the response, I agree that getting Sears back would be the best thing, but to do so means taking another 1/2 day off work waiting for them.
I am pretty good at mechanical/electrical stuff so was wondering if it was something quick , spending 30 minutes beats waiting for the Sears guy.
I checked again for ice behind the evap coils and could not see any - is there a specific area to look at, all I did was shine a flashlight thru the evap coils at various places and could see the white liner behind it free of ice.
Also is there a air diverter of some sort that channels the cold air into the fridge, is this in the top section of the freezer, if it was out of alignment would it cause the issue, how can I check that the damper door.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

The fridge temperature is controlled by the fridge control. The fridge control (thermostat) is connected by a control rod and a control slide gear.
Apparently when the repair guy installed the ADC, he overlooked and distrubuted the position of the rod and the gear without knowing. Thus this will give an wrong calibration for the postion of the fridge control. The "new 7" may be the "old 2".

Thanks for the response, as far I know the repair man did not touch this side of the assembly (I was there watching him).
If however it did actually get moved/misadjusted how would I readjust it ??

Thanks

If the fridge is keeping a constant temp of 40F at the present 7, the cold control is functioning OK.
Then you may need to re-align the rod and the gear such that the present 7 becomes the corrected setting (say 2 or 3).
Mark the spindle position of the cold control for the present 7.
Dissemble the rod and put it back at a corrected setting 2 (or 3) for the same spindle position.
Now the new setting 2 (or 3) will give a temp of 40F
Hence other setting at 3 or 4 will give a temp lower than 40F (hopefully 34F to 37F).
