Question Maytag MSD2432GRW refrigerator not defrosting

I have a Maytag MSD2432GRW side by side, about 3 years old that has stopped defrosting. It does not have the ADC board like the diagram says, but has the mechanical timer. When I turn the screw on the timer, the fridge stops running, but no heat or elements are activated in the coil section. I can hear the small timer motor running.

Where do the wires from the mechanical timer run so that I can check what component is bad? Heating element, thermostat?

Thanks,

USDOC

Showed a mechanical timer on the parts breakdown.

No power from the timer, open defrost thermostat, open heater would be suspect.

Heater and stat in the freezer.

Defrost timer

Defrost heater and thermostat kit

Default Bad Thermostat

Jeff,I replaced the heater and thermostat assy. yesterday, and tested after letting it cool down. It worked! The heater coil had 26 ohms of resistance, so I guess the thermoostat is no good. As you know they are in series, and I had to remove the insulation to meter individually.Great shipping by your company! Thanks for the help!Mike
