Exclamation Washer tub won't center

Help! Maytag Atlantis, MAV6257 has always worked great! Moved it to a new house and it bangs in spin cycle. Even does it empty. Have had local appliance repair person out, he can't figure it out. Machine is level, all feet down and solid on glued down level loop carpet. Help! Momma ain't happy and you all know what that means! Any ideas?

Hi,

Did he open the front of it to see if all the springs were in place and tight?

Did you have your washer on a cement/concrete floor in your old house?

Jake

Thanks Jake, yes, he did open front cover, yes, it was on concrete before the move. I have had front off and top up since he was here and I just can't see anything wrong, all the springs are hooked and intact. There is/was a little white powdery substance around the base under the tub, inside the circle where springs hook onto the base. It has a soap ordor but it appears there are maybe teflon like pads around what appears to be a centering ridge??? I wondering it those need replaced? Also the repair guy says the top ring of the tub is usually filled with something; fluid, concrete, sand or something for some weight-any chance that something could be going on there? A friend in the appliance business said that sometimes going from concrete to carpet is a problem that can be corrected by "bolting the thing to the floor". I don't think that is an issue though because I have put my weight (215) on the machine to dampen the vibration and it doesn't help.

Putting your weight on it unfortunately won't help, the support has to come from the bottom base. Carpets are a problem I have seen alot.

You may need to change that snubber, thats the teflon white piece that your washer tub assembly sits on, and possibly the base as well. Its a very labor intensive job to do. You would also need to buy the brake removal tool, so this job can get very expensive. These model washers don't due very good on carpet at all, compared to other models.

Here is the snubber for your model, it also links you to the base and brake removal tool:
Snubber ring

Also getting the repair manual is a must when doing this job:
Maytag Atlantis Repair Manual
