Unhappy JennAir SidebySide leaks at freezer door

Hi All,

I have a Jenn-Air JCD2389GT side by side. The unit is about 5 years old.

I moved the fridge a month ago to paint. A few weeks later, we noticed water on the floor every few days. It appears to coming from left front, near the freezer door hinge.

I've looked around, but I don't see any obvious source of the leak. The ice maker hose is a nice rubber one and appears to be in good shape. There doesn't appear to be any excess ice layers in the freezer compartment. The water always appears during the middle of the night.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Pat

Its sounds like your defrost drain is clogged.

If you pull the cover off the inside bottom rear panel of the freezer there is a drain hole that needs blown out with air. The drain goes from there to the back of the fridge and it will get plugged up sometimes.

Jake,

I'm not sure what you mean by "inside bottom rear panel" of the freezer. Is this same as the inside lining of the freezer?

I'm have to a closer look.

Jake,

Cleaning out the drain solved the problem.

The task was a bit more complex then just removing the inside panel. The trough behind the panel was full of ice. After cleaning out the ice, water still wouldn't go down the drain. I rolled the unit out, and removed the back bottom cardboard panel (why is $2000 refrigerator made with cardboard?). The drain feeds into a black rubber elbow, which is connected to a poly pipe that to leads the drain pan. The rubber elbow was filled with what look like dryer lint. I don't remember drying my clothes in the freezer. Anyway, after cleaning the elbow everything seems to drain fine.

Thanks a bunch.
Pat
