Default maytag (gas) dryer not hot enough
I have an 11 yer old Maytag gas dryer (model 180G???). N E way, after years of great service, it has not been drying as well and I've noticed that my cloths are not as 'hot/warm' as they are removed from the dryer.

I have done a THOUROGH cleaning of the machine! Including vents and gas/flame fixture. I've noticed that the flame does NOT turn off throughout an entire drying cycle. According to what I've read, isn't the thermostats supposed to cycle the heat to maintain a constant temp. (140F?) ??? I tried to 'adjust' the flame on the unit to supply more heat, but nothing seems to actually increase the flame strength/intensity (turned square nut at back of gas inlet). My thought was more flame, higher heat.?

Any suggestions?

It sounds like your gas valve assembly in your dryer is starting to wear out.

I can't find any info with that model you posted.

I have the model# at home and will update shortly... Am I correct to assume that he gas/flame should cycle on and off during a cycle, thus maintaining a near constant temp? The fact that it is on ALL the time tells me it's never getting hot enough.

Yes, the gas flame should cycle on and off throughout the entire drying cycle, maintaining an average heat temp. of 140-160.

Your on natural gas I assume?

No, there is not a way to turn up the flame, you will need a new gas valve.

Hi, I've got the same issue with a Speed Queen Dryer, model AGM479W2.
The ignitor initally starts the flame, but on the 3 or 4 time it re-ignites, the blower doesn't catch. Does this sound like a similar fix?

You mean it lites the flame fine on the first time, good flame? But after it cycles 3 or 4 times, theres no flame anymore?

Yes, it lites fine and heats up the dryer/clothes in side, and does this for the first two or three cycles of the ignitor glowing/igniting the flame. But on like the 4th time the ignitor glows, it does not ignite the flame and then the ignitor fades. After a few minutes, the ignitor glows again and it's hit or miss...sometimes it lights the flame, sometimes not.

Ok Alan, then in your case a new set of gas coils should fix your dryer.
