Angry Maytag Quiet Series 300 loud noises

Hi. I have a Maytag Quiet Series 300 (model number MDB7600AWW). It has been anything but quiet recently! The past month or so, it is extremely noisy during certain cycles. It usually happens first thing when the dishwasher starts and then again when it says 90 on the front of the machine. We have also noticed that the time will do weird things like count down to 86 and then jump back up to 90 before counting down again. It is also very noisy at least 4 other times during the cleaning. We've had a repairman out twice already. The first time he cleaned out the filter. The second time he replaced the seal kit and the impeller. (He used a metal impeller instead of a plastic one.) The dishwasher is only two years old, but we have had nothing but problems with it. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?? I think our repairman is out of ideas and I'm ready to throw it out the window!

Thanks!

Sounds like your power module assembly will need to be replaced.

Here is your wash motor power module assembly:
Wash motor assembly with seal

You need the original impeller, not the metal one:
Wash impeller

You have a 5 yr. part warranty on this:
http://www.maytag.com/cust_serv/pdf_...01_a_mdb-5.pdf

After the second year from the date of original retail purchase,
through the fifth year, all of the following components which fail in
normal home use will be repaired or replaced free of charge for
the part itself, with the owner paying all other costs, including
labor, mileage, transportation, trip and diagnostic charges, if
required. These components include:
All parts of the Jetclean II® wash system for all models, including
the complete power module assembly, soil sensor, spray arms,
wash manifold and motor.

Contact Maytag to have a tech. come out to order the parts you need.

Default Need more help please

Hi. Thanks for your last advice. We had our Maytag Authorized repairman out twice to try to fix this. (We have now had 4 separate service calls in the past month) The last two times, the man replaced the manifold and then the motor. The noise is still happening. There hasn't been any change in the sound at all through any of the repairs that have been made. Any other suggestions? It is only two years old and we don't really want to replace it. In your experience, will Maytag be any help at all with this?

Thanks!

Default One more thing....

One more piece of information that might help. When the dishwasher display is counting down, it will do all kinds of weird things like count down and then jump back up to a higher number. This seems to happen a lot around the time it says 90 on the display. It will jump up and down to other numbers around 90 but won't just count down in the correct order.

Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

This is a very unusual situation which I don't have an answer for, all I can say is contact Maytag and the store you bought it from and talk to the store manager to see what can be done.

Default Unrepairable

Hi. It is now over four months later and we are still having the same problems. We have spent well over $400 on repair calls and have had every part replaced at some point. We've used two different repair companies too. Our repairman has declared it unrepairable to Maytag. We have been told that we will hear back from them in five days. I am wondering if you have any tips for negotiating with Maytag. Or, if you have any ideas what they may offer.
I am so frustrated with this dishwasher and Maytag. They have been nothing but nasty and unhelpful the whole time. We have had a dishwasher that only works intermittantly and makes terrible loud noises for over six months.

Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Since Whirlpool bought out Maytag, This thread is very helpful to get to the top of the corporation for assistance:

Default Frustration!

Any other tips you can offer?? My husband has been calling Maytag's customer service for a month now and we have gotten nowhere. First, they "lost" the information that our repairman called in. Then we weren't even in the "system" for a week. Now, everytime he calls, he is asked to do something different. They've told us to get a third opinion on the dishwasher (after two places said they can't fix it), try running Lime Away through it, don't use so much detergent, etc... They are just stalling. We have been dealing with this problem for seven months and they don't care. They will promise to look into to and call us back...but they don't ever call back. We have faxed something to the CEO, sent a letter to the CEO, and called 12 times in the last 29 days. Any ideas?!?!?!?

Since Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool, this should help:

Here is a member that had endless problems with Whirlpool and I let her know who to contact in the upper management, and she got good results:

Default Rinse Aid Compartment Concern

I have a Maytag Series 300 Dishwasher and have had it operating now for about 1.5 years. Its been operating very well and is very quiet.

Im writing this to get information regarding a "recall" on dishwashers catching on fire from the action of the "Rinse Aid" compartment leaking the liquid onto the doors control wires. The liquid somehow is eating its way through the insulation and causing short circuits.

Should I be concerned and if so, is there a retro fit that can be used to avoid this potential problem?
