Question Maytag Refrigerator #MBB2256GEW cooling issue

Hello everyone.

After hours of searching for information I have been fortunate enough to find somewhere which has given me a solution - hopefully.

Here's my situation. My husband and I purchased a Maytag a few years ago, haven't had any problems with it whatsoever up until this morning. It worked just fine last night then this morning it halted in cooling on the freezer and the refrigerator. What isn't making any sense of it is, it was working just fine last night.

Here's what's happening:

- it runs but doesn't cool
- relay works
- we can't find the defrost sensor
- water is appearing from somewhere and it started after it was moved; we had it backed up against the wall
- drip pan is dry but there's cold water on the floor
- the sides are cold and they have gotten colder

As I said, it's been running wonderful since we've had it. I checked the trouble shooting book but haven't gotten a solid answer. Hoping to get a more sound view point this way. Very frustrating. Any suggestions as to what could be going on?

Thanks in advance.

Sue

Really need more information. What do you mean "relay works". Is the freezer fan working? Can you hear the compressor working and any warm air coming out under the front? Any sounds like the compressor is trying to start and clicks off?
No cooling at all in the freezer?
Please post.

You said after we moved it. Perhaps you disconnected something in the move?

Sorry for the delay, have a few things going on so I missed the posting.

Plugged for an hr; started working then four hrs later fan stopped again. Husband just said while I'm typing this that he'd unplugged it for 10 mins then replugged it back in, started cooling again. When it's not cooling it's got cold air coming out the back.

BTW, when it went into defrost, everything thawed.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Sue

Your compressor may be overheating and shutting down on it's overload.
pull fridge away from the wall and remove back panel. Is the fan running or jammed?

Been slow on responses due to graduate school, sorry bout that. N e whoot. Seems like it's the timer that's causing the issue. Now it's a matter of finding someone local to get the part from.

Will be in touch when I find out more.
