Default Maytag not cooling

My Maytag sxs fridge stopped cooling though it seems to run constantly. The compressor, fan and coils seem to be fine. It isn't defrosting properly (model MSD2656GE). We uncovered the coiled totally filling the back of the freezer. We tried to follow your fridge not cooling help page...

The heater has 2 wires; one has continuity and the other has resistance. We could not find the timer at all. We found the theromstat seems to be open?

Any specific ideas where the timer is or what we can try?

Thanks so much!

Hi,

Your defrost control is located in the right rear of your console in the refrigerator section, its the exact same as in this thread:
http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/showthread.php?t=223

Now ohm the heater wire and post what it says.

Your defrost thermostat should be attached to the evaporator coil and frosty to get an accurate reading for a continuity check with your ohm meter.

So if you read through this thread carefully and throughly you will be able to fix this yourself with no problems, if you think its to much and to in depth, be all means call an appliance repair company in your area to do this for you.

Jake
