Jenn-Air cooktop JED843OADB
Right front switch burned up. Hubby replaced switch, but was not original switch (the original switch was black and had TUDP 411 on the side, the new switch was white Maytag 12002125 infinite switch kit) and had different wiring. >>
After installing new switch, entire right side did not work, but left side did. Left side worked for @ 2 weeks, then during cooking (used the back burner to cook sausage, the front to cook sauce, then turned on the back to cook noodles and it blew. Called repair person and he came out 3 times and replaced 2 right front switches(Maytag white 12002125), each time burning up switch when turning on the breaker. He disconnected left side and the right back light worked, but no heat. The right front switch (which burned up upon turning on the breaker both times) would not even turn on. The switch is stuck... the knob will not turn either way and I do not want to force it. HELP!!! >>

The 3rd time the repair person came out, he said that the instructions with the new switch were wrong. Both times he talked on the phone to verify his wiring with someone from, I presume, Maytag or Sears.>>
>>
Is there a way to check each switch? Is there a way to tell if it could be both the right front and left rear switch? Is there a way to tell if any of the other wires are crossed?>>

This oven was over $900 and just a few years old...it should not be this complicated. The hubby is ready to toss this one and buy new. Read in forums that this model cannot take moisture/condensation and that switches blow. Is that true of all models? I found a KitchenAid with downdraft for $399.00 Model KECD805H, but do not like it as well as the JennAir.
Is there hope?

Maybe I should re-think glass cooktops....
Purchased the Kitchen Aid and loved it. Tonight I opened the cabinet and a coring ware top fell out and shattered the glass cooktop.

It's just not meant for me to cook, eh?
