Default *Another* Maytag ice maker problem

I've reviewed all the posts that pertained to Maytag icemakers, but could not find one exactly describing my problem... I have model MZD2766GEW wide-by-side with a s/n of 10582273ZF, rev10.

My problem: a few weeks ago, I had to disconnect the water service for about three days, but the fridge was plugged in and (I think) the icemaker bar was down, indicating more ice was being requested. After I was able to reconnect the water service (and ever since), there is a constant noise coming from the back of the unit, and no ice is being made because no water is going into the ice tray. The fountain works fine.

I am pretty sure it is a supply solenoid, but I don't know which one.

I can supply photos if necessary, or perhaps a recording of the noise...

Thanks.

Default filling issue

Perhaps your icemaker water valve is bad, but it can also be a frozen fill tube causing that same issue. I'm guessing the noise occurs for about six or seven seconds and then goes away for awhile. I'd shine a flashlight into your fill tube and look for ice, or remove your icemaker and gently slide a screwdriver to feel for an ice blockage. You can also pull the water line out of the fill tube and sit it inside a glass. If the glass fills when the icemaker cycles, you know it's not the valve. Hope I've helped.

I checked the fill line and no blockages. The sound is pretty much non-stop, even if I move the feed bar up or down.

Thx,

Here is the parts diagram for your model:
MZD2766GEW

With the ice maker bar up, it shouldn't be making any noise, it should be off. Where is the noise coming from when the bar is up, from the ice maker itself or from the back of your refrigerator where your water inlet valve is at?

Talking

Thanks for the replies. I found out what was making the noise as well as what was causing the ice maker to not get water...

One of the scrapers was hung up, but I could not see it until I removed the icemaker unit from the freezer. I got the idea to make sure this wasn't the case (I had felt in there once before, but never removed it) when I read what Jake said "With the ice maker bar up, it shouldn't be making any noise, it should be off."

The noise was coming right from the icemaker itself, like it was trying to rotate the scraper, but could not.

Thanks again for your help. My ice is up and running again.
