Default Maytag timer problem?

We have a Maytag LA210 washer. The normal wash cycle will not spin or drain, although the timer progresses through these portions of the cycle. At the end of the normal wash cycle, the timer does not stop, as it should, but continues on to the "Timed Soak" cycle. At the end of the timed soak, the washer spins and drains correctly. Is this a problem with a timer? I'm hoping there's another fix than replacing the timer, as it's $180.

Hi,

Can be:
- a bad timer
- a bad water level control ( pressure switch )
- a clogged WLC hose
- motor over heating ( cools and restarts in the next cycle )
- water leak onto the belts ( they will slip and not drain )

Would have to be investigated.

jeff.
