Hi, newbie to this forum:
I have a5 year old Maytag dryer that makes loud clanking type of noise when running. In fact when the dryer stops the noise continues for a second or so longer... Do you think I have a belt slipping?? Heating is not a problem at all. Thanks in advance, Harry

Hi,
*Sounds* like ( no pun intended ) a broken fan blower. no model# posted on which Maytag dryer you have, a couple of common blades....  Blower Wheel commonly used on Maytag style gas and electric clothes dryers 20 Fin blower wheel used on some Maytag brands clothes dryers. Used on series B/10 dryers only Blower Wheel commonly used on Norge/Magic Chef style gas and electric clothes dryersThe "D" shaped part in the middle of the fan blower rounds out and the blower makes rumbling noises. jeff.
