Default Magic Chef Fan Running

like WAT4 i have a magic chef that has the opposite problem

on two separate occasions the fan ( i assume the cooling fan) is not shutting off for almost 40 min.

now, i beleive that this is due to over heating and the fan just cools things off. the other possibliity is that something is wrong with it.

i hve it built in, front exaust, in the cabinets.

model number MCO 153 UW ( CLOSE TO WAT4'S)

are we looking at a model defect or something more simple?

thanks

Steve

Exhaust fan or the internal magnetron fan?

The exhaust fan can come on, on it's own if the cooking surface temp is hot or in use.

Internal magnetron fan is the one that runs when cooking and is a small motor...the exhaust fan is much bigger and is the fan that blows outside or through the charcoal filters and recirculates inside....BIG difference in sounds and air movement.

There will be a thermostat on the base ( inside ) of the microwave that will turn on the exhaust fan ( on it;s own if needed ) that may be faulty.
