wondering is on a distinguished road
Default Rusty microwave

I have a GE microwave that works ok-maybe not as fast as it used to be. It has some rust around the door but also has some on the door below the window. I guess it is rust, that is what it seems like. I just wondered if it will hurt to run this like that or will it arc from the rust. I haven't noticed anything but when you start it it will make a "crackling" noise for a few seconds then you don't hear that anymore. That could be something else.

I saw an Amana I liked and read a "review" from someone on it and they said it was extremely quiet. I would like to have a quiet running one as the one I have is rather loud. Who makes the Radarange now days??

Thanks for your help. Meant to say that mine was made in 1993 so it says on the inside label and I think I bought it in 94.

Hi,

Exposed metal parts of the door and or liner should be cleaned up and touched up to prevent any future arcing problems.

It should say on the model/serial tag on the unit....Amana was purchchased by Maytag....Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool but most microwaves come from off shore ( China, Korea, etc ).
