I have a Samsung Microwave I bought in August. It's still covered in their 1-year warranty. I had a problem with it, sent it off to get fixed, and got something back that still didn't work. The problem got worse! It's still under warranty, and I want to know what my options are.
Last week, it started to spark when running. Somewhere around the bottom right corner of the door, a coating had scratched off, exposing bare metal. When running, this would cause sparking. I contacted Samsung about it and they set me up with a repair shop that was about an hour and a half away. I ended up mailing it on my dime--although they'd cover mailing the fixed microwave back. I got it back today, and saw in the order that they had "repainted the affected area." I think they just used white-out. I plugged the thing in, and whatever paint they used immediately started to discolor. I wonder if they had tested it at all. Furthermore, another part of the door began to fry itself. The whole thing's screwed. What I want to know is the path of least resistance of getting the whole thing resolved. It looks like I have some serious complaining to do, and I plan to call Samsung in the morning and request a replacement. I already forked $30 sending it out to that shop, and I don't want to pay $30 to do it again. Is this what they'll try to get me to do? |

If I had known about that the first time, I would have tried it. However, the whole seal around the door is cooking itself through and through. Now it's not the corner, but along the top, and rapidly expanding horizontally. I'm certain it would have gone on for three inches if I could have withstood the horrible smell. Can that stuff fix this? It seems like I have to thoroughly coat all around.

It was worth a shot, but I have this sinking feeling the complaintI sent will go nowhere.I'll get a form reply telling me I sent the form incorrectly, or a form response telling me I can send it back to that same shop (1.5 hours or $30 in shipping away).
And they make such good xbox DVD drives. What the heck? :? |

The online complaint just got me a form letter to call their support line. They ended up sending a Maytag repairman out this time. When they ran it, of course the problem didn't replicate. They didn't have any of that paint, so I'm stuck with the microwave as it stands. It looks like I'll have to buy some of that paint and cover it up myself.
![]() The only thing that would likely be my fault is I ran tests on it empty. It only took about 30 seconds for it to start smelling funny, and no more than 5 seconds for the painted area to discolor. They eventually ran it for 3 minutes with some water and it was fine. They told me it wouldn't void the warranty -- as if it's been any help. |

Ooops, not good! **They didn't have any of that paint** Wonder why they wouldn't be prepaired for that? Sad! ![]() **They told me it wouldn't void the warranty** That's good. If it comes back, hopefully they will be prepaired. jeff.
