worked one minute and not the next
Brand:
Tappan
Age:
1-5 years
Last night I put in a covered tupperware vegetable cooker with water in the bottom, heated it up for 2 minutes, pulled it out - put the broccoli in, put the container back in the microwave, closed the door, set the fresh veggie button for 3 servings, pushed start and the whole microwave went out. I have tried unplugging, I checked the circuit breaker.
I was so angry since 3 weeks ago the oven went out and I still haven't found anyone to fix it for me at a price I can afford that I slammed the door shut. The lights all came back on!! OK, I reset the time, pushed start and it went off again. If I slam the door a little the lights in the display window will flicker on but then go right back off.
The microwave was a gift from my son and he bought the extended warranty we are looking for the receipt but I am pretty sure he bought it in Dec 2008 and it was a 2 yr extended meaning the warranty probably just expired this past December. I am really having a bad run of luck lately with my appliances! The microwave about 3 yrs old, the oven about 8 yrs old. Knock on wood, my 23 yr old Whirlpool fridge is running just fine!
Thanks for any help or advice!
Becky

Hi,
pushed start and the whole microwave went out
If the internal fuse let go the high voltage capacitor being shorted would be a prime suspect.
