Our microwave has worked fine the 5 years we have owned it (manufactured Oct. 2002). Yesterday it had a quiet "buzz" during the first few seconds of use, but then worked fine for the remainder of the time it was on. This happened about ten times. Now it only runs about two seconds when turned on and then shuts off. We can turn it on repeatedly and it does the same. Suggestions?

Hi Vintage,

Unfortunately, I don't work on microwaves.

You can go to Jeff's q&a section here:

or You can email Jeff and ask him:

Bottom of that link is his email address.

Thank you for your prompt reply. After doing a search on his website and further online it looks like the inverter board has been problematic for Panasonic and the symptoms seem to match. He suggested I contact Panasonic directly, which I have. If I get a positive response from them regarding repair I will post it here.

No helpful word from either Panasonic or two local repair shops. Repairs would have cost more than a new one. Also nothing helpful after checking with three recyling center, so it ended up in our trash can this evening.
