Dacor burner valve not triggering microswitch
Brand:
-major brand-
Age:
More than 10 years
After removing range top and compartment top, I found that the small black plastic cogged collar on the metal valve knob stem was slipping easily as I turned on the gas and thus not triggering the microswitch (which works fine otherwise). It also appears that the very small metal c-clip that usually grabs the grove in the metal stem and holds the collar inward is missing.
Is there a clever way of fixing this without replacing the expensive burner valve assembly?? Or, if I bought a new burner valve assembly, could I transfer the c-clip or the c-clip/collar from the new to the old without changing out the whole control valve assembly??

I've been looking for information on that range but no luck. If you want to take some pictures of what you're referring to and post them here, I'll be happy to take a look at them.
