Default Dacor oven rack slide is stuck

We have a 2-year-old Dacor wall oven. I think the model is MCS130s.

Wife self cleaned not knowing that doing so without removing the racks would damage them. The section on self cleaning said nothing about that, but other sections did.

So she pulled out the bottom rack, and it won't go back in or come all the way out. We don't think we should try to apply soap or vegetable oil because that might damage the heat coils. I don't see any obvious places to take the thing apart.

And, on Thanksgiving, Dacor customer service is closed today and tomorrow.

Thanks for any ideas.

We leave the oven racks in all the time when we put our ovens into self clean to check them. It shouldn't effect them at all, other than some discoloration. Are you sure you're putting it in right? I'm not trying to insult your intellegence. It's easy to get them wrong.

We have never taken the rack out. The user guide warns against self-cleaning with the racks in. It pays to read and re-read the manuls.

Just to complete this saga, I'm reporting our experience with this oven.

We called our appliance repair firm at about 11. The guy came at about 12 and was here for about three hours. While he is a trained appliance tech and has worked on Dacor, he hadn't confronted this problem. Only heard about it. He spent quite a bit of time trying to unfreeze the roller bearings, but they are ruined. Took awhile to get the right parts number working with his parts department. He'll be back next Friday. He works by the job and the bill was only $88. We'll tip him. He also took out the oven lights, and DW is on her way to Lowe's to get replacements.

He said the easiest ovens to service are GEs. Dacors, Vikings and some of the other expensive ones are over-designed without any consideration of the service issues, he said.

Thanks for the response.

Thats the first I've heard of that (about the racks). Thanks for letting us know. It's hard to find a good and honest service company but it looks like you might have found one. Keep us posted on the results.

If it's not too late, call Dacor 1-800-793-0093, they are pretty good at goodwilling racks due to this.

I know in your case, the *Glide* racks can not be S/C'd in any way...Make sure to remove the convection filter too. I don't know if the newer racks are coated with thinner chrome or a different mix of metals, but if you S/C them it'll burn the chrome right off of them and they no longer slide easily.

I have the MCS227 Dacor and have never had a problem with Dacor helping me out with anything, course I handle their warranty, but still they always take care of my customers.
