Default GE cooktop exhaust fan will not shut off

GE cooktop JP676
Exhaust fan will not turn off . Only way to stop it is to flip the circuit breaker.

I would guess your fan switch has shorted and providing power to the fan all the time. You would need to remove the switch and verify with a meter. Turn the power off to the range before doing this.

Hi,

Its #1622 here:
http://www3.sears.com/imaging/ImageP...&titleID=00003
On the left of #5. Looks like its under the main temp. control panel#10.

You may need to pull your cooktop out completely to access it.
