Default So what about Maytag now that Whirlpool makes them?

My husband loves a Maytag french door fridge, and he got a very good deal on it (if it works, that is). We haven't had it delivered yet though. My husband bought the service plan considering our past issues with refrigerators.

Online reviews suggest that Maytag is not so good, but many/most of those reviews date back to 2006 or so, before Whirlpool acquired the brand. I suspect that some of the more recent complaints were from older models.

While trying to find a repairman for my LG (still not working, but that is another thread ), one crusty ol' repair guy hollered through the phone, "Good luck! Next time buy Whirlpool!

I went into Lowe's to talk with the appliance guy about the Maytag on order and he said that it has a JennAire compressor and the ice maker has been completely changed out on this new model. Most of the complaints we read about were the ice maker.

So what do you think? Is it doomed? LOL

Thank you, Jake. Your reply is very encouraging.

My husband only searched on the Maytag model number he purchased, which is a new model number. No complaints found yet!

But the French door fridge configuration has to be better than this LG. The LG doesn't accommodate tall things very well, and it is so narrow with the water filter taking up headroom.

I am no longer allowed to make appliance decisions on my own, just so you know.

We heard that Samsung makes a great fridge but online reviews state "good luck" in finding a repair tech. Who wants to wait three weeks to get their fridge repaired?

I couldn't agree more.

You will be pleasantly surprised about your new Maytag. It should be extremely reliable.
