Default Fridge / Freez Combo Keg Convertion ?

Good Morning All,

I have a Kitchen Aid fridge / freeze combo unit with the freezer on the top. I have done a kegerator conversion to it but had to put the tap up in the freezer door so that it would not be too low. I have turned the temp as low as the freezer will go, but it is holding at about 20 degrees. I also wrappd the beer line in a insulating foam sleeve, but the beer is still freezing in the freezer compartment. Someone recomended that I use a Beer temperature controll unit from Johnson Controls. The way I understand the device is that a probe goes in the freezer and back to a setting box were you put the desired temp of the freezer. The unit intercepts the power plug and some how changes the temp of the freezer to your setting. Here is the link to the unit. http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-...s-pid-E26.html
My concern is since the freezer and fridge are on one single power line, is this unit going to cause the fridge to become to warm, there for skunking the beer? I would really appreciate anyones comments on this unit, if or if it will not work and or any other suggestions. Football party is on Saturday and I gotta get this worked out.

Default

get creative and make some kind of cold barrier between back wall and door to stop the issue. isolate the back to limit size of freezer and should run less if thinks it's supercold. maybe bubble pack or some such- it's only a kegger, function before form.
