The condenser fan in my Kenmore Model # 57572791 failed. After replacing it, I noticed the air flow blowing AWAY from the compressor. Is this correct? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Yes, It draws the warm air across the condenser and compressor, then directs it across the drip pan, The condenser fan will not blow the air on the compressor directly.

Hi,

**Kenmore Model # 57572791**

Model# is likely 106.57572791

**I noticed the air flow blowing AWAY from the compressor. Is this correct?**

The condensor fan can suck air across the condensor coils and compressor or blow air across the condensor coils or compressor.

It -should- say right on the end of your motor which direction is will run...CW - Clock Wise, CCW - Counter Clock Wise.

The original style for your model

Yes, that is the correct model number - And, I looked at the old and new motor and both listed CW as the motor direction.

Ok, here's a stupid question,is CW determined from looking at the back or thefront of motor?

**Yes, It draws the warm air across the condenser and compressor, then directs it across the drip pan, The condenser fan will not blow the air on the compressor directly.**

This makes sense due to the fact of the placement of the vent holes on the back of the unit allowing the warm air to escape.

Lastly, many"Thanks" toyou bothfor your help. I doubt the compressor would havelasted verylong w/o the cooling from the fan.

-take care

Hi,

Many are listed as "Clockwise rotation (from rear)".

Here's the stupid answer, it depends on the motor manufacturer!! Although I think most now go by viewing the opposite end from shaft? Maybe you can observe yours and report its direction?

(I forget how they determine it on a double shaft motor )

JFYI

The fan turns in a clockwise direction when viewed from the rear of the motor, <<or opposite end of the shaft as you stated>>.

Thanks, again.
