Hi aaastan,

Good to meet you, thanks for helping with your appliance repair knowledge on the boards, I value all the appliance techs we have here!

If we all didn't live so far apart, i would love to treatall the appliance techs here to hot coffee and donuts at the local donut shop!

That was my favorite part of working at Montgomery Ward, every Friday all us 5 appliance techs would meet, [shadow=red]FOR OUR MORNING BREAK[/shadow], at the Donut Wheel in Tucson, Arizona for lots laughs and fun stories about our fun customers, routes and the appliances that we did on a daily basis!

Jake

Jake,

I should be thanking you--I'm happy someone had the idea of starting a forum relating to appliances. It is fun--and I get a kick out of helping others.

Our business is a family affair. My father and I have been working together since 1979 as moving company(too demanding on the body).Since 1982 we started the appliance repair business and never looked back.My wife and mother run the office and phones and I cannot overstate how hard they work. As well as being the first *contact* with new customers who callthat need a knowledgeable and sympathetic person who can help the customerover the phone.

What's amazing is just *how deep* we're into it. My wife's sister-in-law was a Sears service woman in Delaware and became the "service manager" of a pretty sizeable shop. It is through her thatI learned how guys like you work your tail off with a schedule thatsounds monstrous compared to ours--we do 4-6 calls per day on average(more during summer months). Sears techs around here are running full tilt doing some 12-17 calls a day! My sister and her husband and their son have an appliance business in Ocean City,Maryland. My oldest brother does as well in southeastern Pennsylvannia. I love my job. Learned a lot about people as well as appliances--most folks are decent and grateful to know someone who actually can repair things.

Good Job setting up the forum!

John

Thanks John,

Sounds like your family is well into appliances and appliance repair.

I live here in Lane County, Oregon, its about 300,000 population. It covers the cities of Eugene(139,000) and Springfield(52,000) Oregon, the rest of the people are in the county limits. We have to cover a large area, so we go out with about 7-10 calls a day, with mileage averaging 50-100 miles a day.

Buti know like you say, in big cities, techs that dont have much mileageto cover can do 12-17 calls a day.

Jake
