Brada fridge not cooling
Brand:
Samsung
Age:
1-5 years
Hey guys I have this model which was in the house when I moved in with a manufacture date of 2008:
The freezer works great but the fridge didn't seem to be cooling. I didn't see any ice in the ducts but I didn't remove them. I found ice however in the screw holes of the top shelves of the fridge.
The temperature is set to 1, but the display shows it at 9. It's much colder that than that now though. The last few days it was definately getting lukewarm to the point where I moved everything out of it.
A tech came in, but only looked it at for a few minutes. He said the compressor is weak, and the fridge should be replaced. Sort of strikes me as odd seeing how the freezer is working perfect.
I really don't want to replace the fridge, and don't want to pay for another house call...sigh.
Any ideas? I tried hitting the light switch several times.to see if it'll defrost itself.
Thank you so much for any help

I don't work on Samsung products, sorry.
Hopefully another tech. that does can help you out.
If no one helps you then call Samsung to get a tech. out that knows what they are doing, preferably an Authorized Samsung tech.

Yes, I see that, thats a typical defrost problem which I see on other brands as well, you have 3 parts that control your defrost cycle on all refrigerators: 1. The defrost timer/board. 2. The defrost thermostat/sensor. 3. The defrost heater.
Now since I don't know anything about Samsung, I have no way to tell you how to force a defrost cycle to see what part is bad, like you can do on other brands.
All refrigerators come with tech. data sheets that should supply you with instructions on how to force a defrost cycle, look for the tech. data sheet behind you bottom kickplate grille, thats were most are located.
The only part I see in the parts listing is your defrost thermostat/sensor here:

And also your defrost control board here:

Thanks Jake, the kick plate is that front plastic thing at the bottom of the fridge? Because I didn't see anything behind it.
So how long approximately will it ice back up if the problem isn't resolved...days? weeks? Wondering when I should start checking again for ice build up.
Should I just go ahead and buy a new temp sensor at that price?
Lastly, the fridge has two sets of what I took a picture of, the fins or evap or whatever it's called. The freezer was 100% fine. I don't know exactly what a compressor does, but can i 100% rule that out now? Wouldn't they BOTH freeze up if the compressor is bad? I'm wondering if i should rip a strip off the repairman for giving me faulty info.
Thankes Jake you've been a really big help.

I'd rather you test that defrost thermostat sensor, but on Samsung refrigerators I don't how they test.
Its best to get a Samsung tech. to come out, like I said I know nothing about Samsung products, sorry.

Is that the one I want for my model?
I'm tempted to just buy both sensors and replace them, they're only like 8 bucks each.
I just had to defrost the ice block again
