Default Adhesive for drum glide assembly

I have to replace the lower seal and the glide seal assembly on a Sears laundry center #417.91702000. Is the adhesive used on the door lip surface only or on both surfaces, the felt seal and the door lip?
Since it seems to be a contact type adhesive I want to make sure I get it right.

Thanx,
b green

Thanks Jeff, after I slap em together how long should I wait until I put everything back together? When the Sears tech originally did this repair he didn't wait long enough and the seal shifted when he put it back together.
Should I give it a day to dry?

*I* put them together right away.....but only let the unit run for under a minute to test and then leave it to dry....approx 12-24 hours.

Thanks Jeff, one more dumb question.I'm replacing the lower seal also.It is wider on one side and has a slight beveled edge on the other side.
I'm assuming that I put the adhesive on the wider side and that goes against the lip on the door, while on the upper side the flat edge faces the drum and the beveled edge faces the door.It is the same length as the old seal but looks a little different.

Glue the wide side yes.

These may help....

Remove and discard the existing top felt seal ( spacer ) and separate glides if used. Clean the surface of the arc, removing all residue of the old felt. Scrap it off clean with a putty knife or flat screwdriver.

Apply the adhesive ( usually furnished with the glide kit ) to the arc. Attach the new felt/glides assembly to the arc in line with the gray/white lower seal. NOTE: about 1/8" of the felt will extend over the lip of the arc.

OK,I'll glue the wider side down on the lower seal and put the flat edge towards the drum. There is a slight rolled lip on the arc toward the drum side so if I have an eigth inch overlap on the seal it looks like it wont sit flush on the arc due to riding up over the lip.The upper seal with glides attached is grey, the lower basket seal is white and not as wide as the glide seal.
The replacement lower seal they sent me also looks slightly narrower than the orginal.
Do you know of any do-it-yourself repair manuals for this particular model? Looked on the appliance aid site but didn't see any for laundry centers. With the luck I've had so far with this one I think I need to get a book. Can't afford to keep paying the Sears repair service charges especially since they botched this repair the first time. Always had good luck with Sears repairs on my other appliances though.

thanx

Just realized where my misunderstanding may be. Does the one eigth difference of the seal overlap the lip toward the drum or is it flush to the lip and rise vertically above the lip? If I put the seal flush up to the lip it does rise about three sixteenths above it,that does seem to make more sense.Soon as I figure this out I can glue it on and get it back together. Thanks for your patience with the many questions.

Hi b green,

(Just a comment) If you have to get parts for your apliances its usually best to get OEM parts not generic. I went to my local parts house last week and had to get a generic top felt seal like yours they dont carry OEM for that part.( because my customfer was desperate for repair)
I had so much trouble with this part. So just allways try to get OEM parts.

but thats just me
