Bought all appliances for our summer home from Sears 3 years ago. Paid $680 for our stove. The oven had been used less than 10 times when the E2 F1 came on. Called Sears repair, sent a man out for $69 who told us we needed new boards, cost $448!! I'm totally PO'd. Got a brainwave, Internet!! Found your wonderful site, and one post told about wedging cardboard in the ribbon connection site. Disconnected the stove and opened the back, and on the right side of the board where the ribbon goes into the connector pins I pressed down and left to seat the connection. Put the back on, reconnected, turned on the oven and we are back to normal, been working ever since. Thanks, Thanks.
This is what has happened..back when Sears was Sears they had thier own repair guys whose job was to fix it so you would go back to Sears again. Then the pump and dump guys from NY bought Sears, stripped the cash, pushed up the stock to sell back to us. Now Sears has to cut expense, fire people, get rid of money losing departments so they lease out repairs. The new company cannot make money on $69 calls, they have to sell parts. They give you $25 for your old board, sell it to a new sucker for $125. What a business. My wife and I are both in our 80's. We lived in America when it was America. Sadly those days are gone, never to return. |
