Yesterday my front loading washer let out series of violent bangs and threw itself about two feet forward during the spin cycle before I was able to shut it off. Turning the dial to "off" did not allow me to open the door, even after the usual few minute wait. I decided that the only way to get the clothes out of the washer would be to try to let it finish out a spin cycle. Since the washer is so dark on the inside, I'm not sure that the drum(?) actually made full rotations, but it did allow me to open the door when it was finished. The water did not fully drain, though today there is no standing water. This is not the first time we've had problems with this model, but we were able to have Sears come out before to make the repairs. My major concern at this point is that I don't have confidence in the repair process. My husband did not renew the service contract, instead chose an extended policy with American Home Shield. I'm hoping for the best, but my experience has been that they do not contract with experienced or well-trained repair people. The appointment setter said the technician had ten years of experience but wasn't trained. Thanks!

I forgot to say that the rubber gasket is twisted, seems to have a hole in it; and a spring is exposed, stretching across the opening to the machine. Thanks for any comments!

A overloaded machine will cause both problems you had and also something caught in the boot area when loaded and door closed causing the item to twist in the boot... Ask the American Home Shield to send out Sears... They have the primary contract with them now and the call taker does not know how much or what experiance the ech coming out has...
