Default Sears Kenmore Electric Dryer #110.68932790 won't keep running

My dryer isn't working. When I push the start button, it runs for a second or two and then stops. If I hold the button down, it will keep running but the second I let go, it stops. Any ideas on what the problem is?

This has been a big issue with this model, This Link:

[FIXED] Another Kenmore Dryer problem

When you order the control board, its always best to order the thermistor as well.

Default Cost???

Hi:
Thanks for the reply. Do you have an approx. cost of the parts? I have a repair guy coming out on Monday $45 to look at it. If it is reasonably easy to do, I'll see if I can get the parts and do it myself. I just spoke with Sears and there is a two wk wait for the parts. I did hold it down for a bit last night and realized that it isn't heating either. Does it all have to do with the same thing mentioned above? Can you be more specific with the parts? I don't see "control board" or "thermistor" listed in my repair parts list. Do tech's stock this stuff on their trucks? Thanks for your help! -Kim

Control Board Price HereThermistor Price Here

Yes most Sears techs have these parts, but they are marked up alot higher because of them having it on the truck.

Default Recommendation?

Hi Jake:
The cost to replace the control board and thermistor is more than expected. It doesn't make sense to fix it when I can just get a new one for $100 or so more. Is there a model that you recommend? My plan is to get one tomorrow. Thanks for any advice!

The Maytag, Admiral, Magic Chef are good brands.

Or any non-touchpad dryer, just control knobs style are still very reliable.

My dryer starts and runs till it seems to reach a certain temperature then stops and won't restart till it sits ( cools ) a bit.
I do not see any burn marks on the board.I have taken the thermister out and I am going to try a new one , as soon as I can locat e one.
sometimes it will run through as normal, when this first started giving it a shove/ kick would resolve the issue.

Yup, possible thermistor problem.

If you need parts help goto www.applianceblog.com/parts and enter the model# of the dryer or the part# off the thermistor.

Thumbs up

[QUOTE=Jake]Yup, possible thermistor problem

Replacing the Thermistor seems to have cured the problem.
I am glad it wasn't the controll board @ $ 116.00 . I would have thrown another $ 100.00 or so at it and got a cheap manual no frills dryer.

Thanks for the help.
