Default night light bulb

Good day,

I have a Sears Kenmore 721.62642 (or it might be 62644). One of the bulbs was blown (or so I thought). I removed the cover and turned the bulb a bit and it came on. I did break rule #1 and did not turn the power off. Anyway, when I went to bed that night I turned the night light off. The next day I turned it back on and both bulbs blew abnd there was a burnt smell. I took both of the bulbs out...1 was really loose...(and broke rule #1 again). I bought replacements and put them in (breaking rule #1 yet a third time). I figured something had shorted out but tried new bulbs anyway. No luck. Everything else works, the fan, etc. I searched the forum and that's when I found out about rule #1. But in my case the bulbs didn't blow until I pushed the nightlight on. So, I'm confused about that. Did it short circuit because one bulb was loose? Is it actually short circuited? I'm thinking that if the light is the only thing not working I will go and buy some sort of like that I can velcro to the underside. I can plug it in fairly close. I don't see any reason to have it repaired until the rest of the board fries. What do you think about all of this?

TIA, Mary (who now has a dead dishwasher, whole house humidifier and now the micro light)

Default Microwave light

I had the same problem with my KENMORE microwave, my microwave was 1 year old. I tried replacing bulbs, nothing worked so I had Sears Service come out. The Service man told me a board needed replacing (just for the over the stove light) and the cost of the part was $300.00!!!! Of course I did not have it replaced. I am fed up with Sears appliances. I have 3 appliances less than 3 years old. range, refrigerator and over the stove microwave that have all failed in some way or another, with high priced repairs needed.
