Default kenmore ice not dropping through chute

It makes ice perfectly, dispenses water fine.
The auger churns when the button is depressed.
But nothing comes out of the chute.
Help, I don't want to pay $65 just for a service call.
I have replaced the water filter.

It seems like if I empty the ice maker, when it has a little amount of ice in it, it works ok, but still slow.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

Model#?

Flapper door in the dispensor is not opening to allow the ice to fall through and into the glass? Worth having a peek at.

Would that still be the case if ice drops occassionally?
How do I check it.

I press the dispense button and a piece of ice will drop about every minute, unless I empty the ice holder and it makes new stuff, then it will dispense until it gets to a certain level in the bin holder.

Thanks

Could be yes....mine was more of a question "Flapper door in the dispensor is not opening to allow the ice to fall through and into the glass?"

Tape the door switches closed so the dispensor will work with the FZ door open and visually check to see if the flapper door is opening or closing on ok.

Maybe the cubes are getting stuck together?

thanks for your assistance

the flapper door does open and the thing turns inside

I just emptied the bin again, it was full to the top. So maybe they are sticking together. Is there any way to prevent it from filling the bin up all the way?

Thanks!

Didn't see a model# yet. Some have a metal wand arm that goes up and down to check ice level in the bin/bucket. The wand -may- be bent a bit lower.

If we don't ours much, we remove the bin once a month and dump out the cubes and let it make new ones. Can save them in a grocery bag and put them in deep freeze and save the bags for picnics or such.
