Default Kenmore 721.62642200 intermittent oven light

Everything about this microwave works flawlessly except that the interior oven light will decide to not be on "sometimes." It's been like this for over a year and I've just been waiting for something else to go wrong to lead me to the problem. Right now it's only a minor nuisance. Since it's been a while I figured I'd ask on here to see what I should look at first. In summary - when you open the door sometimes the light will come on and some times it won't. Every blue moon it will flicker a little bit but I can't seem to get the problem to replicate on demand. What should I yank apart first?

Hi,

Make sure the bulb is tight in the socket.

Default Checked

I went in there and double-checked on the tightness. It's tight. So then I opened and closed the door over and over until it stayed off. Then, while it was off with the door opened, I tapped on the top inside of the oven and it popped back on. Should I replace the socket? Should I not even mess with it?

It just sounds like a bad filament in the bulb, have you tried to replace it with another new bulb?

Could be:
- loose bulb
- bad bulb
- bad socket
- bad relay on the board
- loose wire

Go simple first....check for a tight bulb, check socket and replace bulb.
