Default Kenmore 790 Freestanding Electric Range. Short in door plunger?

Hi, everyone.

I have a Kenmore 790 Electric Range that I bought in 2001/2002. I recently replaced the EOC, and everything's been working fine until I sat my deep fryer on the glass cooktop today. I didn't jar it too hard at all, but all of the sudden the F1 error started--exactly the moment I sat the deep fryer on the cooktop, immediate F1.

I unplugged the range and plugged it in again. Then I opened the oven door, and noticed that doing so made the EOC beep. So, upon further investigation, I noticed that every time I push in the plunger/door switch on the upper lefthand side of the oven frame, the EOC beeps. Also, the oven elements won't come on anymore either.

Is it possible that I have a short in the door plunger that's causing the beep and also causing the F1 error?
I reallllllllly don't want to be out the cost of another EOC if it's only a short or bad door switch.

I have to run a couple of errands, but I'll be back shortly to answer any questions that might help in this diagnosis.

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can give.

Hi Jill,

Yes, its possible your oven door switch or the lock latch motor assembly is bad, rather than your EOC again.

We would need the complete model#, it should be located behind your storage drawer on the left or right side frame.
