Default Kenmore 80 Agitates on Fill Cycle

I have a Kenmore 80 Series (Model 11026844690) Heavy Duty Washer that when placed on the fill cycle (any position on the timer switch) it will only agitate as if there is already water in the tub. Rotating the timer to other positions such as spin work just fine. Do you think this could be a faulty timer? Occasionally I am able to get the washer to fill usually after it sits for a while or run through the spin cycle a few times and it will run through a complete cycle as if nothing at all is wrong. The very next wash cycle it will do this goofy agitate on the fill (and rinse) cycle again. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I have a good way of testing this problem, when it gets to that point where it just starts agitating without water in it, open your control panel then take off the clear pressure switch hose and blow in the nipple of your water level pressure switch, if you don't hear a click sound when you blow into it, you will need to replace it. If you do, then you will need to replace your timer.

Also blow through your clear water level pressure switch hose that goes down to your tub, I've seen some clog at the end at the tub and cause this too.

To get access to it:
You would need to open your console as shown here:
Removing the End Caps on Kenmore model#110 Whirlpool built
Pull forward and up on the console and you can hinge it open and hanging from the hinges.

Here is the water level pressure switch for your model, in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer's Number: 3366845
