    In December our dryer started making loud noises and then shutting off, when we immediatly tried starting again it would either make a loud buzzing noise then start or make a noise and then do absolutely nothing. We cleaned out all of the lint inside the dryer and then left on vacation. When we got home it has been working okay until this week. It will run very loud with heat and then will get louder and louder then shut off. Again we can usually restart it right away by holding down the start button which will either eventually get it going or die out. But we can always come back to it later and get it started. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

    How old is your dryer? If you don't know, Post your serial# and I can tell you.

    Since yours isn't the electronic evenheat model, I would say your motor is starting to go out.

    Yea, from the serial# it was made in 1999.

    With the age of it, its better to invest your repair money into a new dryer.

    Default replacing dryer

    If we can replace the motor on our own would you still reccommend just getting a new one?

    Well, its hard to say without looking at it myself. Others parts start wearing a pretty good amount when dryers get up to the 10 year old mark.

    If you use it daily or many times a day and have a family of 3 or more, then its better to just invest in a new one, if you just use your dryer a few times a week, then its best to fix it.
