Default Dripping icemaker

My icemaker is dripping on my Kenmore Coldspot 106.70262990 refrigerator.

Here's a pic:

What should I inspect/replace?

Thanks!

Hi,

You'll need a new ice maker module.

Here's the ice maker module for your module you can order:
Manufacturer part#W10122536 is RepairClinic item#1373103
W10122536

To change it, take your ice maker out by taking the 2 screws out from the top, and the 1 on the bottom, that mounts it to your freezer wall, unsnap the electrical connector.

Then remove the front cover, just unsnaps. Then remove the 3 screws that hold the module in place as seen here:
http://www.applianceaid.com/icemaker-modual.html then remove the metal bar that snaps into that plastic sensor piece on the module.

Jake, What causes this? I have a similar problem on my Treo. It drips some every time it ejects ice and I get a small clump daily. Thanks, Bob

Hi,

On the module style ice makers (Whirlpool, Maytag Family, Sub Zero) the printed circuit in the module head often wears and the contacts become too long and allow the icemaker to over fill = new ice maker or new module head.
This is from Jeff's site, www.applianceaid.com

Jake, One more question. The model is Kenmore 596.73502202. I did a parts search at repairclinic.com and it likes like I have to replace the entire ice maker. Is that correct? There's no sub-assembly? Thanks, Bob

Thanks again Jake! So this fits a kenmore Treo? Just making sure as the maker is listed as Amana and or Maytag. repairclinic.com had suggested replacing the water inlet valves, which cost almost as much as the entire ice maker. Bob

You water inlet valves should be fine.

Jake,
It looks like the new one is working OK. That was the easiest icemaker repair I've ever done. Whoever designed that one and the freezer did something correct.
Thanks,
Bob
