Default Kenmore electric range 665.9502210 burner won't work

The top right burner on our stove does not work. When the knob is turned on, the cooktop on light will come on, but the burner does not heat up. We tried a new surface element and that didn't make a difference. Could it be something wrong in the control switch (item #2711) or something else?

Hi,

Is it the right-front burner? or right-rear burner?

Yes item#2711 should fix it.

It is the right, rear burner that is not working. I replaced the control switch (part #2711) and this did not make any difference. I turned on the control swith to high and checked the voltage to the burner and it read 0 voltage. What next? Could it have anything to do with the keypad?

Now thats very odd, Did you test the voltage to that switch between the L1 & N terminals?

No, the keypad doesn't interact with that burner switch.

I’m not an electrician, but I’m guessing you are looking for the voltage between (L1), and neutral (P2) the blue wire that splits to pilot lamp on the schematic. With the switch in the off position the voltage is 53.5 volts, and 0 volts with switch turned on. I tried to post a picture of the schematic to help you explain to a non electrician.

Thanks, Craig

After further research I checked the voltage between L1 and L2 with the control switch on high. The good burners all showed 220 volts when the control switch is on high. The burner that doesn’t work shows 0 volts.

Thats very strange, if you replaced that burner switch, it should show voltage, yes L1 & L2 is correct.

Check all your wiring connectors to that burner switch, may have a loose connection in the wiring to that switch.

All the connections from the control switch to the burner have been checked and they are all tight. I also checked continuity between the connections and it all looks good except. But, where the red wire (L2) connects to the control board (RF) there is no voltage. I also checked RL, FL, and FR from the control board to their control switches and they all show correct voltage. Could there be a problem with the control board?

Yes, thats what I was thinking, sounds like a control board problem.

Here's the control board for your model:
