Default Ice Maker Problems on a side-by-side #106.53634300?

Hi! I have side by side fridge about 4 yrs.old, that has started to quit making ice! The ice despencer & water despencer both work, but ice maker does't want to make ice. Acted like it wasn't getting any water in the tray of the icemaker,so I replaced the water solenoid valve, figuring the old one wasn't letting water to enter the ice tray! Plugged unit back in & shortly after...I hear ice cubes dropping in ice bin! Hooray!!! It works! How-ever now it's the same problem except there's water in the tray with a little slush ice....but no ice cubes except for 1 or 2! Been on all night, but no ice in ice bin! What's next? Thermo-stat? Ice-maker control Board? Control Module? HELP!!

So if you feel inside your ice maker tray, you only feel 1 or 2 cubes in the ice maker tray? If thats the case, then you have a issue with water pressure to your refrigerator.

Does the water from your water dispenser come out fast with a strong stream of water?

Water comes out of water dispenser as strongly as it did when new! Don't think that's the problem, but it could be. After I posted my question this morning, I turned off the ice maker....then a couple of hours later,I turned it back on again....hopefully, it would make ice! Shortly after we were getting ready to go to town, I noticed water running out of the freezer compartment...all over the kitchen floor!! Had to hurry & shut water supply valve off! What caused this to happen? Wife wasn't too happy!!! I think she's loosing patience with this fridge!

Oh ok, then your water inlet valve is bad.

Its located in the back of your refrigerator were your water supply line hooks-up to it.

Here's the one for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 4389177

That is the same water valve that I replaced last Sunday! It should last longer then that, shouldn't it? That was part of the reason that I replaced the old valve, because it wasn't getting water in the icemaker...also we had an earlier problem with water running on the floor from the freezer compartment! Isn't there a sensor that controls the water valve,to energize it when it needs water to fill the ice tray? Could that be the problem?

Ok,

Yes, the ice maker module has the sensor in it that controls water flow to your ice maker.

Here's your ice maker module assembly:

Thank's Jake! I'll order the module & hopefully that will take care of the problem! Will keep you posted! P.S. Why does WHIRLPOOL/KENMORE still insist on using this set-up when consumers are having these problems with this icemaker? Later!

I'm not sure why, I'd hate to speculate, but I'm pretty sure if the failure rate was much higher across the board, they will make big changes.

Hi jake! Installed new Module on ice maker as per your suggestion on last post! Ice maker started making ice again...about 3 times....then water starting running out of icemaker and on the floor! I know on last post you mentioned to replace water valve, which I had already did,but still had a water mess on floor! That new valve should have lasted longer than a week, don't you think? Anyhow, I've got another water valve coming and we'll try it again! Starting to get a little expensive now replacing these parts! Oh well, we'll get it,hopefully! Later!!

Yea, thats very strange, unless that water valve you got the first time was defective, where did you buy it at? If you bought it from our links here, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund.
