Hi!
I'm hoping that someone can help to explain how I would go about cleaning the condenser coils on my specific Kenmore refrigerator. I've gotten a hold of a cleaning brush, but I'm unsure about what to do now. Do I need unbolt and take off the metal plate at the rear/bottom of the fridge to access the coils in order to clean them? Or, do I take off the vented plastic guard thingie in the front? Please help me =)! Side Note: I also have that "water leaking inside the fridge" problem that a couple people have mentioned. Anyone found a good solution to that? (I have a fridge with freezer on top.) I'm tired of all the water dripping inside on my top fridge shelf. TIA, Steph |

Take the plastic vent off of the front, make sure you have the thermostat in the refrigerator section off. There is a fan in the back that can be damaged with the brush if it is running.
Have you completely defrosted the defrost drain line before and has it froze up again? There is a part you could put in. Part number 46 106 819043, it is a heat probe. Discard the silver cylinder and just use the probe, screws onto the defrost heater. Greg |

Thanks for the steps, Greg! The plastic cover seems stuck on pretty darn good. Do you need to unscrew anything to take it off?
About the "water leaking inside" problem, I've never defrosted the drain line before . Could you tell me how to access the drain line so I can try defrosting it? Sorry to be such a bother... Thanks again! Steph |

just grasp both ends and pull towards you, the cover is just fastened with push on clips on both sides.
Make sure you have the thermostat in the refrigerator in the off position. Should be two screws to remove the cover for the bottom of the freezer. Remove the icemaker if you have one, and then two screws will take off the freezer back panel. the drain line is located in the middle of the silver tray under the evaporator coil. Use some hot water and a putty knife to access the drain. Pour some hot water down the drain line until you can hear it entering the drain pan under the refrigerator. Good luck Greg |
