Default Kenmore HD Series 70 Drain/Spin Issues

Model #110.82673110

I've searched old threads, but haven't seen anything quite like what I'm experiencing. There are three problems as far as I can tell:

1. No Drain Before Spin - I may be mistaken, but isn't water to be mostly pumped out before spinning starts? Funny how you don't pay much attention to an appliance until it starts giving problems. Spinning starts with a full load of water, and water appears to be removed centrifugally.

2. Clothes Wet After Final Spin - Often, a second spin is needed to get the clothes dry enough to go into the dryer. Only occasionally, even with a second spin, are clothes very thoroughly wrung out. Problem is unrelated to load size.

3. Regular Cycle Stops While Timer Advances - Will stop agitating prematurely and do nothing while the timer ticks off the rest of the cycle, ending with a full load of wash water. This was an intermittent problem that has become chronic. Also, it was previously possible to restart the washer and it would complete the cycle, but no longer. As stated, this only happens on the Regular cycle. Permanent Press and Delicate cycles are OK with the exception of the two issues noted above.

I would appreciate your input before throwing parts at the old hoss.

Thanks!

Hi,

For the most part yes.....some will spin and drain on the first spin after the washer but the final spin will normally predrain the water first.

Weak clutch, clothing between the tanks, brake not releasing, loose or worn drive block ( often makes noises ) could do that.

Burnt timer contact missing or skipping part(s) of the cycle...motor over heating and shutting off on it's built in safety device?

-Sounds- like maybe a timer/clutch issue to start off with

Thanks very much for your input, Jeff! I'll report back when the repair is complete to confirm the cause.
