Default [FIXED] Kenmore Elite 665.13863K601 fills but won't wash

Hello:

Our Kenmore 665.13863 is suffering the "fills and drains OK but won't wash" problem. I can run self tests and for wash, the motor just hums -- everything else seems OK.

I've removed the chopper and the shaft will not turn at all so I assume the wash motor is bad. For the sake of ease, I'd like to replace the entire assembly but I have three questions:

1. Do you think the diagnosis is correct?
2. What is the assembly part number?
3. Please confirm that the assembly can be replaced from the inside of the washer tub as I suspect sliding the whole washer out will be a problem due to new granite counter-tops and a hardwood floor.

This is not very old and I'm disappointed as I replaced a similar Kitchen-Aid with the exact symptom after a very short life span.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Skip,

Yes, if your motor is locked-up then thats what it is.

Here's the cheapest complete pump/motor assembly I found for your model - Part#8572615

Here is an online manual to help you:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/52521bdbd0ef763c85256cbc00520548/$FILE/8178022.pdf
Read page 17 to remove the outer door panel, just read step 1, you don't need to remove the dispenser.

Then read on the same page:
Removing the Inner Feed Tube and
Lower Spray Arm

Then read page 20 to remove the pump/motor assembly.

You can print those pages out if you want.

I realize that I inadvertently posted this thread in the wrong forum; I hope it can be moved to the Sears Kenmore dishwasher area.

Well the assembly went right in and works perfectly, thank you so much. The job was much easier that I expected and I'm glad I ordered the entire unit.

The bad news is that while I was running a test wash, I had not yet re-installed the door panel and I discovered water weeping from the bottom of the door to what looks like a drip catch running the length right under the door. The leak is slight but, based upon the appearance, seems to have been occurring for quite some time although water never hits the floor.

I'd appreciate any thoughts and thanks again for the help!

I guess I spoke too soon. The drip catch area is actually the bottom of the tub so I guess a few drops of water would not be unusual there. I can sometimes see a pulse of water at the corners but it drains right back into the tub. I've cleaned the lower portion of the door, checked for no suds and checked the wash arms for cracks or deterioration. Seems to be working fine.

Thanks again,
